Five Myths About Car Accident Claims in Eastgate
I hear the same handful of myths at the diner every morning. Let's clear them up, because believing the wrong thing after a crash can cost you real money.
Myth 1: "The insurance company is on my side."
The adjuster is friendly, but they work for the company, and the company makes money by paying you less. That's not villainy, it's arithmetic. Be polite, but don't mistake friendly for fair.
Myth 2: "I have to accept their first offer."
You don't. The first offer is almost always a starting point, and it's almost always low. You're allowed to say no.
Myth 3: "If I wasn't bleeding, I'm not really hurt."
Whiplash and soft-tissue injuries don't bleed, but they're real, they linger, and they're compensable. See a doctor even if you feel okay.
Myth 4: "Hiring a lawyer means going to court."
Most cases I handle settle without ever seeing a courtroom. Hiring a lawyer mostly means hiring someone to do the arguing for you on paper.
Myth 5: "It's too small to bother a lawyer."
In a town this size, no case is too small. If you were hurt and it wasn't your fault, it's worth a free phone call to find out where you stand.
